About Rosie Roo Makes 

Rosie Roo Makes started as a New Years resolution. At the the beginning of 2017 I set out to make pure beeswax candles using vintage tea cups as containers. For a long time I had always thought I'd do something like this, but I guess never had the courage to do it. Since having my son last year, I literally thought why not! What am I scared of?

So I started practicing my technique and perfecting it over time. I knew from the very beginning I wanted to fit this into my everyday life. So, when my son fell asleep, I was straight on to candle-making. I do everything to do with my micro-business while my son is asleep, I can focus more!

I started trading at local markets from September. I've had a fantastic experience and received lots of positive feedback as well as many sells. 

I wanted to take Rosie Roo Makes a step further by opening up an Etsy shop, which I can finally say I have done!

Rosanne Cooper

Owner, Maker

My name is Rosanne Cooper, I live in Portishead with my husband and two young boys. I studied BSc (Hons) Wildlife Conservation at Plymouth. I’ve worked as a nature conservation contractor and for National Trust in various Ranger roles. My absolute passion is in the environment and wildlife. I have an allotment where I work the land to grow as much fruit and vegetables to be part self-sufficient. I live my life as low carbon and plastic free as possible, although there’s still a long way to go. I practice yoga in order to give me peace and balance in my life.

Rosie Roo Makes grew from a desire to create beautifully unique candles using nothing but beeswax and to promote the state of our environment and our pollinators, particularly our honeybees. Everyday people don’t know the power they hold in where they spend their money. By buying one of my candles, you are supporting a whole network of beekeepers that manage honeybee colonies to improve bee health. You are also supporting the landscapes of which the hives are kept. Honeybees need a lot of flowers ranging from wildflower meadows, field margins, hedgerows, orchards, crops etc to make honey and wax. The landscape must have enough habitats suitable for the honeybee colonies to be able to survive. Its an umbrella effect. So by purchasing one of my candles, not only are you getting a wonderfully hand crafted, personal candle, you are supporting beekeepers, honeybee colonies and huge areas of habitat without really knowing it.
